Magazine Cover Final

After taking into consideration the comments i received on my first draft i changed the magazine cover accordingly:
  • I removed the blood spatter on character pictures below
  • Removed the visible black undershirt
  • Removed the glow around my character
  • Improved the outlines and bleeding edges of pictures
  • Added a background so it seems less empty
  • Made the subject 12 section bigger, heightened the contrast and made the 31 section smaller and reduced the contrast and brightness so it is more obvious which is the main story
  • Lengthened the body as it didn't reach the end of the page
  • Made the header and footer the same colour as the masthead
  • Reduced contrast of the "31" clown

I showed the first draft of the trailer to my class to get their feedback and advice, this will help me improve my trailer and ensure that the final production will be of high quality. Below if a video of them watching and then commenting on my trailer.

Voice over update

For the reporter voice over in my trailer I have asked people on social networks and my friends to give me voice samples so I can compare them and find which seems more realistic and professional. I am asking both male and females and will try to get some audience feedback to find narrow down the voices and help me find the voice I will use.

I received 11 recordings and have used friends and family to find which sound most realistic and most like a news reporter. I have narrowed it down to 2 recordings. Below is a survey to help find the one i will be using in my trailer. Create your own user feedback survey

After collecting multiple responses and looking at the results i have decided to use recording 2 that is where the majority vote is.

Magazine Cover first draft

This is the first version of my magazine cover. I included a photo of my main character as this is a convention on screams magazine covers. I have also kept the dimensions on a scream magazine in my cover.

To ensure that this is up to standards i printed it to see any problems not visible on a computer screen and asked people to comment on it. Below are some of the comments i received:
  • Blood spatter on character pictures below
  • Black undershirt showing
  • Yellow price circle cuts off before edge
  • Outline of clown and "31"and "a rob zombie film" visible
  • Authentic features.
  • Too much empty space
  • Character's body does not reach the end of the page.
  • Which is the main story?
  • White glow around Character doesn't fit with genre of film and magazine.
  • Blood header and footer are a different colour to the masthead.

Magazine Development

As my production is in the horror/thriller genre the magazine will be a horror film magazine. Horror film magazines are more likely to feature more independent and smaller films as they have a niche refined audience.

I will be using the horror film magazine 'Scream' to feature my film. Below is the cover that i will use based off of many 'Scream' front covers i have looked at. As i have yet to have a photoshoot for the magazine i have left where the main image would be, blank. I have included everything that is on a scream magazine cover i.e Masthead, Tagline, Barcode, Issue number, Price, Date, Website, Cover line, Cover story's etc. I have also kept the film's font the same to keep it recognisable and to keep continuity between my products.
